Deadline: 01 June 2026

Kisumu Feminists Society is inviting LBQ+ persons across Kenya to apply for The Acacia Circle: Feminist Holistic Protection and Care Camp.

In Kenya, to be openly queer is to already be political. LBQ+ persons continue to navigate criminalization, religious and cultural hostility, digital surveillance, family rejection, public scrutiny, and increasing insecurity. Everyday acts such as forming relationships, accessing healthcare, seeking housing, gathering in community, or simply expressing oneself online often become sites of risk, negotiation, and harm.

The weight of living under these conditions creates deep psychosocial distress, fear, trauma, isolation, exhaustion, and burnout, often without access to affirming care or safe support systems.

The Acacia Circle is being convened as a space for urgent care, protection, grounding, and collective healing. Through feminist holistic protection approaches, the camp will create room for LBQ+ persons to rest, reconnect with self and community, strengthen safety practices, access psychosocial support, and build resilience while navigating heightened insecurity.

This convening centres care not as luxury, but as survival, resistance, and community protection.
