Deadline: 05 January 2026

Tech4Pride equips young LGBTQI+ people with the practical tech skills, confidence, and community connections they need to thrive in the digital economy. This Initiative serves as an economic empowerment pathway — supporting queer youth to build sustainable livelihoods, increase their earning potential, and access opportunities within Africa’s rapidly growing tech ecosystem.

Through our structured learning cohorts, participants gain foundational digital skills; from coding and design to digital marketing, data literacy, and essential online tools. These cohorts act as spaces where queer young people build networks, receive mentorship, and support each other to enter and grow within the tech industry.

Beyond training, Tech4Pride is cultivating a regional community of queer people in tech committed to mutual support, innovation, and collective advancement. We host meet-ups, discussions, and tech-focused events that centre LGBTQI+ economic empowerment and open doors to employment, freelancing, entrepreneurship, and higher-paying digital careers.

We believe that the diversity of people who use technology must be reflected in the diversity of those who build it. By expanding queer representation in tech, Tech4Pride is contributing to a future where LGBTQI+ people can shape digital spaces, transform narratives, and participate fully and safely in economic life.

GENERAL INFORMATIONS

JOB PURPOSE

The Tech4Pride Community Manager is responsible for building, nurturing, and sustaining a vibrant community of queer learners participating in CHEVS’ flagship digital empowerment programme. The role ensures that Tech4Pride is more than a training initiative—it is a supportive ecosystem where LGBTQI+ youth gain tech skills, expand economic opportunities, and thrive in community.

The Community Manager oversees the full learner journey, including outreach, onboarding, cohort management, mentorship coordination, and alumni engagement. They cultivate an affirming learning environment, provide personalised support to reduce drop-offs, and strengthen peer-to-peer connection across cohorts.

Beyond learner engagement, the role contributes to the strategic growth of Tech4Pride by supporting partnerships, identifying new opportunities for programme expansion, and integrating community insights into ongoing improvements. Working closely with programme leads, they help ensure that queer learners can access digital careers, build networks, and participate in a tech ecosystem where diversity in users is reflected in those who create and shape it.
