The African Trans Network (ATN) is strengthening its programme implementation, member engagement and bilingual communication across the continent. We are seeking an organised and proactive French-speaking individual to join our Secretariat and support the implementation of our programmes while strengthening engagement with members across the continent. We are particularly looking for someone who is fluent in French and has a good working knowledge of English. This role is a remote, part-time position requiring two days of work per week.

The individual fulfilling the Programme Support role will provide day-to-day assistance in the implementation of ATN’s programmes and activities. Working closely with the Interim Regional Coordinator and the Programmes Officer, they will support the coordination of programme activities, communication with members and partners, maintain programme documentation and ensure agreed actions are followed through. A key part of the role will be providing bilingual, French-English, support to strengthen engagement with Francophone members and trans organisations across Africa.
Scope of Work
- Support the planning, scheduling, implementation and tracking of programme activities, consultations, convenings, and member engagements.
- Serve as primary liaison with Francophone members and partners, providing bilingual support in French and English.
- Draft, translate and review routine programme correspondence and meeting materials in French and English.
- Prepare agendas, participant lists, background documents, action trackers, and concise meeting records.
- Maintain regular communication with member organisations, regional networks, consultants, donors and implementation partners, as assigned.
- Maintain programme workplans, calendars and trackers in Microsoft 365 and Sharepoint.
- Support invitation, registration, virtual meeting logistic processes and assist in interpretation arrangements, and follow-up with participants for convenings.
- Compile attendance data, activity evidence, feedback and other inputs for Secretariat, donor and Steering Committee reports.
- Conduct light research and prepare short briefs relevant to ATN programmes, regional engagement and movement-building priorities.
- Undertake other reasonable programme-support duties agreed with the Interim Regional Coordinator within the contracted level of effort.
Key Deliverables
- Updated weekly programme and action tracker, including progress, overdue actions, risks and next steps.
- Ensure accurate bilingual communications and meeting materials.
- Compile meeting records and action lists to be shared within agreed timelines.
- Ensure programme records are correctly filed and maintained in SharePoint.
- A concise monthly summary of work completed, outstanding matters and recommended follow-up.
- Timely inputs to donor, Secretariat and Steering Committee reporting, where assigned.
Required Experience and Competencies
- Fluency in written and spoken French is essential.
- Good working knowledge of English.
- Relevant experience supporting programme coordination, project administration, member engagement or civil society support.
- Strong organisational, writing, editing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, track follow-up, and work independently.
- Competence in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams; SharePoint experience is an advantage.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement with sensitive information.
- Understanding of trans-led movements, human rights and the realities facing trans communities in Africa.
- Commitment to feminist, decolonial, rights-based, inclusive, anti-discriminatory and do-no-harm approaches.
- Candidates must have access to their own laptop and a reliable internet connection.

Performance and Accountability
Work will be planned jointly with the Secretariat. Performance will be assessed against timeliness, quality, responsiveness, accuracy, completion of agreed deliverables, confidentiality, and constructive collaboration.

Contracting Conditions
