Across the continent, recriminalisation bills and violent rhetoric continue to shrink civic spaces for LGBTIQ+ communities. The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the UN Human Rights Council, the Universal Periodic Review and other mechanisms remain powerful levers for accountability and change. Previous cohorts left our training able to track review cycles, draft shadow reports and coordinate regional advocacy, describing the experience as eye opening. Building on these gains, PAI invites a new cohort of activists to sharpen their skills and embed LGBTIQ+ voices in these fora.
