Call for Application – Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Programme Officer at Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA)

Introduction
Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) is a feminist Pan-African leadership development organization with headquarters in Kampala, Uganda. Our work is rooted in feminist principles and beliefs guided by the Charter of Feminist Principles for African Feminists which define our leadership development program and movement-building activities. 

Key roles and responsibilities:

1. Strategy, program planning and implementation

● Provide support in the overall planning and implementation of AMwA’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights programme and projects while ensuring that it is anchored deeply in the mission of feminist leadership, organizing and movement building and advances our radical vision of transformation.
● Assist in the delivery of AMwA’s feminist action learning approach to monitoring and evaluation, ensuring that these efforts support our political ambition to strengthen and support women’s leadership and movement-building within the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights space at continental and global levels.

2. Communication and Advocacy
● Generate a body of knowledge on African Feminist sexual and reproductive health through research, feminist analysis and documentation, and provides support in the development and technical review of analytical papers, concept notes, blogs, and other formats of resource materials that capture African women’s lived realities and align to and constructively represent AMwA’s feminist analysis and perspectives in challenging patriarchy, neoliberalism, capitalism,
neocolonialism, and other systems and structures of oppression in the quest for economic and climate justice.
● Ensure alignment of the programme’s activities and budgets to the AMwA strategic plan priorities and provide support in assessing trends and systematic changes relevant to social justice, specifically sexual and reproductive health around policies, practices, systems and structures.

3. Movement building and partnership development.
● Supports in building and inspiring African women and girls in all their diversities, AMwA alumni, AMwA sub-grantee partners and other African feminists and women’s rights organizations across the African regions and in the diaspora to enhance their knowledge and engage/ exercise feminist thought leadership.
● Coordinate with and nurture a community of African Feminists working on SRHR 

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Qualities
● Have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Political Science, Philosophy, Humanities Gender, Law or any other relevant discipline from the university.
● Five years in a similar position, working on public policy issues and using a gendered analysis of SRHR.
● A proven commitment to women’s rights activism and demonstrable experience in social justice or human rights broadly;
● Proven interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multicultural, multi-interest, multi-ethnic environment
● Ability to communicate and work effectively in English.
● Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
● Excellent analytical, team management and communication skills
● Ability to organize and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
● Excellent knowledge of digital data collection and accountability systems.
● Excellent advanced quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
● Willing to travel frequently within Africa and beyond.
