About AQYI
African Queer Youth Initiative (AQYI) is a youth-led organisation dedicated to mobilising, supporting, and amplifying the voices of LGBTQ+ youths in Africa. AQYI aims to build visibility, strategic networks, and advocate for the rights of LGBTQI+ youth in African countries.
Key Areas of Focus:
- Advocacy and Policy: AQYI engages in advocacy efforts to promote policies and laws that protect the rights of LGBTQ+ youth in Africa.
- Community Engagement: AQYI works to build strong and supportive communitiesfor LGBTQ+ youth, providing resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
- Capacity Building: AQYI provides training and capacity-building programs to empower LGBTQ+ youth and organizations.
- Research and Documentation: AQYI conducts research and documentation on the experiences and challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth in Africa.
About the Queer Youth Ambassador Program
Our program aims to empower queer youth across Africa by providing them with the skills, resources, and platform to advocate for their rights and create positive change. We are seeking dedicated individuals who are committed to:
- Promoting LGBTQ+ rights and challenging discrimination
- Building inclusive and supportive communities
- Inspiring and empowering other queer youth
Requirements:
- Strong passion and commitment to LGBTQ+ issues
- Experience or interest in advocacy, community organising, or social justice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to participate in training, events, and ongoing activities

- Interview: Selected candidates will be invited for an interview to discuss their experiences, goals, and commitment to the program.
