Deadline: Monday, November 11, 2024.
Are you passionate about advocating for LGBTQ+ rights in hostile/sensitive contexts?
The Academy for Queer Advocacy (AQA) is for you. The AQA aims to build the capacity of nascent LGBTQ+ organizations to manage digital spaces to improve safety, advocacy, and resilience in a climate of rising hostilities against LGBTQ+ people across Africa. In an era of increased restrictions and heightened surveillance, it has become essential to operate safely in virtual spaces. This program provides activists in Nigeria, Burundi, and Burkina Faso with training in teleworking, cybersecurity, digital advocacy, and tele-health to enable organizations to thrive under pressure and protect their communities.
Through mentorship, virtual and in-person workshops, and a collaborative platform, the Academy equips emerging organizations with the skills and solidarity to promote safer and inclusive spaces across Africa. Join us in energizing your mission and preserving the future of queer advocacy.
For each beneficiary country, a workshop will be organized on site on each of the following dates: November 17 to 21, November 26 to 30 and December 3 to 7, 2024.
Each date is dedicated to a specific country, to allow activists to benefit from support adapted to their local context.
