Introduction
The Wellbeing Center (TWEC) is a non-profit organization in Nigeria whose work focuses mainly on mental health and wellbeing of LGBTIQ+ persons.
We provide mental health and wellbeing support to LGBTIQ+ individuals in Nigeria, and we are actively working to end all forms of mental health stigma and discrimination through story telling, research and education. Our work targets the root causes of poor mental health and wellbeing within the LGBTIQ+ community by engaging queer individuals in capacity strengthening activities, communications and media engagements, partnership building with external stakeholders and program implementation.
Purpose
The Programs intern will provide support to the Wellbeing Center’s mission of promoting mental health and wellness. This position aims to improve the planning, coordination, and implementation of programs that address the unique needs of the LGBTQIA+ community. By assisting in the development and delivery of impactful workshops, events, and resources, the intern will contribute to sustaining an inclusive and supportive environment.
Additionally, the role provides the intern with valuable exposure to nonprofit operations, offering opportunities for personal growth and skill development in program management, research, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and implementation of mental health programs, workshops, and events.
- Conduct research on emerging trends, needs, and opportunities relevant to mental health and the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Assist in preparing program materials, resources, and communication content.
- Maintain program schedules and coordinate with participants and stakeholders.
- Collect and analyze feedback from program participants to guide improvements.
- Provide administrative support, including report preparation and file management.
- Collaborate with team members to align programs with organizational goals.
- Attend in-person meetings as needed to support program delivery.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director
Qualities/Skill/Requirements
- Passionate about mental health, wellness, and LGBTQIA+ issues.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar productivity tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong research and analytical capabilities.
- Flexibility and adaptability to a dynamic work environment.
- Prior volunteer experience is an advantage
Job Offer
- Reporting to: The Director of Advocacy and Psychotherapy services.
- Work Hours: Full-Time: 40 hours weekly (Monday to Friday). REMOTE with in-person meetings as frequent as needed.
- Monthly Salary: ₦70,000 Naira.
- Contract Duration: 6 months.
- Start Date: February 2025.
- Location: Abuja.
