community of thought leaders and changemakers includes over 230 member organisations
across 60 countries.

the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Job summary
The Communication Director will form part of the management team and manage the
communication team, all internal and external communication, including all communication
channels and outputs, and provide support to the WINGS team and Executive Director.

Responsibilities
● Oversee strategic communication for WINGS, based on a good understanding of the
organisation’s role and objectives.
● Develop and implement communication strategies and plans for all areas of work,
events and projects.
● Develop and regularly update key messages for WINGS and for all areas of work.
● Write, edit, and proofread all external communication, including articles, publications,
reports, mailers, etc.
● Oversee the functionality, development and content of all WINGS websites, including
managing service providers.
● Build and manage media relationships and outreach.
● Perform a full range of management duties, including planning, budgeting, participating
in management team meetings and contributing to organisational policies and
strategies.
● Engage in outreach, coordination and liaison with members and partners.
● Act as the communication lead for specific areas of work.
● Oversee all communication for WINGS events, including WINGSForum.

Requirements
This is a contractor position for 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will have
the following:
● An excellent understanding of strategic communication, messaging, audiences and
communication channels.
● The ability to translate complex ideas and work into simple, impactful and engaging
messaging.
● Experience in managing a communication team and delivering high-impact
communication for an international philanthropy or civil society organisation.
● A minimum of 8 years of directly relevant professional experience.
● Relevant Master’s degree required; or equivalent experience over 10 years with gradually
deepening responsibilities.
● Exceptional English verbal and written communication skills
● Experience in writing and editing content for a variety of communication outputs,
including blogs, case studies, mailers, social media channels, etc.
● Experience working with all social media channels and other digital platforms
● Experience in managing websites and understanding SEO and analytics
● Experience in managing mailing lists and using related software
● A good understanding of graphic design and video production
● Excellent attention to detail
● Working experience in philanthropy, civil society and global issues
● Good interpersonal communication skills
● Experience in working remotely and within a diverse and geographically dispersed global
team.
● Self-motivation with strong organisational skills and flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
● Global mindset: openness to and awareness of cultural and geographic diversity.
● Proficiency in the use of computers and digital tools.

    Compensation for this position ranges from USD 80,000 – 100,000 per year and will be based on
