About EATHAN
EATHAN – East Africa Trans Health and Advocacy Network is a network of trans and gender diverse activists and organizations in East Africa. We have 32 member activist representatives and organizations based in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. Our mission is to equip and enable East African trans* diverse individuals and institutions, to organise and advocate for the improvement of their health, the recognition of their gender, and the protection of their human rights; utilising informed research and documentation, particularly on health and HIV, and by enhancing their livelihoods through capacity strengthening and empowerment.
About the Emergency Response Support
With support from Frontline AIDS, EATHAN is welcoming applications that provide emergency response assistance and support by trans and gender diverse organizations in the East Africa region (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi). The call is open to various forms of assistance faced by trans and gender diverse persons and organisations in the five countries including rapid response, security and safety, relocation, among other needs.
Requirements
- Open only to registered EATHAN members in the 5 countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda)
- Applications will only be considered from organisations and not individuals
- Your application including budget must fit into 3 pages (3rd page for the budget)
- Must be completed within 1-2 months
- The grant is strictly project-based and does not offer core or general support
- Grants must be emergency or rapid-response in nature, and all applicants will undergo a review process to determine the severity of their needs. Additional documentation may be requested, and due diligence will also be undertaken.
Applications
Applicants are required to prepare and send a concept note and a budget (in any format). All applications are to be sent through info@eathan.org with subject ‘Emergency Response’ in the subject line. Applications can be submitted in English, French and Swahili. Only word documents will be accepted.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling, first-come, first-serve basis. Only selected applications will be notified. Once your application is reviewed, we will notify you as soon as possible. You will receive an email from our team within 7 to 14 days of your application.
