Deadline: 02 March 2026
The International Trans Fund (ITF) is the only trans-led global funder dedicated to advancing safety, dignity, and justice for trans people worldwide. We envision thriving, interconnected trans movements that are resourced, resilient, and rooted in transfeminist principles, advancing safety, freedom, and liberation worldwide. Our mission is to mobilize sustainable resources for trans-led organizations and movements worldwide by strengthening collective action and bridging critical funding gaps.
Our grantmaking is led by a global panel of trans activists, grounded in the belief that trans people best understand the needs and priorities of our movements. Since 2017, ITF has invested over USD $10 million in 271 trans-led grassroots organizations across 103 countries. Our work is rooted in transfeminist principles and a deep commitment to human rights, collective care, and movement-building.
About the Role
ITF is seeking a part-time Learning & Impact Officer to strengthen participatory learning, documentation, and storytelling across several of our programs and initiatives. This role will support MEL work for multiple projects, including (but not limited to) the ACTIF-supported project “Building and Connecting Transfeminist Movements for Global Change.”
This is a strategic, movement-facing role that blends technical MEL expertise with a strong participatory and narrative approach. The Learning & Impact Officer will work closely with ITF staff and grantee partners to co-create learning processes, capture stories of change, and ensure that knowledge generated through ITF’s work meaningfully supports trans-led movements.
The position is part-time over 14 months, with workload fluctuating in line with program timelines and key learning moments. There is a possibility that this role will continue, funding dependent.
- Organization: International Trans Fund (ITF)
- Position Type: Part-time, fixed-term (April 1 2026 – May 31, 2027)
- Reports to: Deputy Director (or designated Project Lead)
- Location: Remote
- Application Deadline: March 2, 2026
What This Role Focuses On
At the heart of this role are two interconnected priorities:
- Participatory learning: Ensuring that Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) processes are co-created with partners, grounded in care, accessible, and useful to movements themselves (not just to donors).
- Storytelling and narrative: Capturing stories of change, collective journeys, and movement knowledge in ways that honor trans experiences and strengthen advocacy, visibility, and solidarity.
Key Responsibilities
The Learning & Impact Officer will be responsible for the following across multiple ITF projects and programs:
Participatory MEL Design and Implementation
- Designing MEL frameworks that align with ITF’s values, donor requirements, and movement realities.
- Developing participatory MEL tools (surveys, reflection guides, learning conversations, qualitative methods, etc.).
- Designing and administering baseline and endline learning processes with partners where relevant.
- Ensuring ethical, accessible, and trauma-informed approaches to documentation and data collection.
Learning and Collective Reflection
- Facilitating collective reflection spaces with grantee partners and stakeholders.
- Supporting learning processes connected to events such as convenings, regional gatherings, and capacity-building initiatives.
- Synthesizing learning across projects to identify cross-regional patterns, emerging themes, and strategic insights.
Storytelling and Knowledge Production
- Capturing stories of change and movement narratives in collaboration with partners.
- Producing thoughtful reports, learning briefs, and synthesis documents for internal and external audiences.
- Developing case studies that highlight partners’ journeys, contextual challenges, and organizing strategies.
- Contributing MEL-informed content to ITF publications, including annual reports and communications materials.
Collaboration and Accompaniment
- Working closely with the Deputy Director and ITF program staff across portfolios.
- Building respectful, trust-based relationships with grantee partners.
- Contributing to a culture of care, reflection, accountability, and collective learning within ITF.
Who We Are Looking For
We strongly encourage trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse candidates to apply.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning within social justice, human rights, or movement contexts.
- Strong skills in both qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g. participatory tools, storytelling, surveys, case studies).
- A clear commitment to participatory approaches that center community knowledge and agency.
- Experience working with grassroots or community-led organizations, particularly in the Global Majority.
- Familiarity with feminist, intersectional, and/or transfeminist frameworks.
- Experience facilitating learning spaces across cultures, regions, and languages.
- Strong writing and synthesis skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas accessibly.
- Alignment with ITF’s values of trans leadership, care, accountability, and justice.

- The position is fully remote, and we welcome applicants based in different regions.
