Job title: Festival Communications and Partnerships Coordinator
Reports to: Director
Duration: 10 months (Jan – September 2026)
Summary: The Festival Communications and Partnerships Coordinator will support the festival team in planning and delivering the annual festival, focusing on communications, partnerships, and resource mobilization.
Job Description
- Prepare and present funding pitches to embassies, cultural institutions, and private sector partners.
- Research and draft grant applications, including the upcoming British Council Festivals Grant
- Maintain a database of potential sponsors, partners, and donors.
- Coordinate follow-ups and reporting for secured grants and sponsorships
- Develop and implement a comprehensive PR and marketing strategy for the festival.
- Coordinate PR, social media and marketing campaigns including following up on images and texts as well as the design of posters, booklets and merchandise.
- Maintain the festival social media pages, including uploading content (before the festival) and directing the festival interns on what content to upload closer to the festival dates and during the festival.
- Coordinate online Ads and distribution of posters
- Act as the primary contact for local and international media
- Secure interviews and coverage in local and international magazines, blogs, and literary platforms.
- Work on maintaining and updating the festival website with event information.
- Serve as the direct contact person for international guests, press, and partners.
- Prepare guest information packages, coordinate travel and accommodation, and handle on-ground hospitality.
- Coordinate space branding before and during the festival.
- Handle all paperwork associated with procurement of the above tasks.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in communications, partnerships, fundraising, event coordination, or cultural project management.
- Demonstrated experience in grant writing and proposal development for cultural or creative projects.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small, creative team.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
- Interest in literature and the arts is highly desirable
Duration and Compensation
- This is a part-time role required to come to the office occasionally.
- Compensation is net 500,000 UGX per month
