Call for Application – Scholarship at Appreciation For Activist and HRDs in East Africa Festival (AHEA 2023)

Appreciation For Activist and HRDs in East Africa (AHEA 2023) is the Pre – Conference and AWARD ceremony that aim to recognize and appreciating individuals from LGBTIQ+ and SW Activists, HRDs, Allies and Partners that display “outstanding” commitment to the LGBTIQ and SW community . LGBTIQ and SW activists, HRDs, allies and partners around East Africa are among the people that are recognized for awards.

The 04th Pre-Conference on Strategic Empowerment, will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, and virtually from 07 to 09, Award Ceremony on 10th and the Members meeting on 11th November 2023. The AHEA 2023 Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to eligible applicants around the world to attend AHEA 2023 either in person or virtually. It is open to anyone working, volunteering or studying in the area of Human Rights Advocacy, Gender Diversity or LGBTIQ+ and SW Spectrum and who is at least 18 years old on 07 Nov 2023. Priority will be given to:

  • Abstract presenters whose submission has been selected for the conference
  • Applicants from East African countries
  • Applicants who are part of LGBTIQ+ SW Community and people living with HIV
  • Young Activists and HRDs.
  • Applicants who did not previously receive a scholarship for an AHEA pre-conference and ceremony. 

The AHEA’s Steering Committee Team is happy to announce the call for Scholarship application submission. Applicants can choose whether to attend the conference and AWARD ceremony in person or virtually. The type of attendance requested does not have an impact on the likelihood of obtaining a scholarship.
