The Doc Society Climate Story Fund is now accepting applications for 2025. This year’s call for submissions is inspired by the words of Robin Wall Kimmerer: “All flourishing is mutual… we are bound together, the flourishing of one is dependent on the flourishing of the other.”
The fund is looking for powerful storytelling that highlights the interconnectedness of life and demonstrates how climate action can lead to a more equitable, resilient, and abundant future.
What the Fund Supports
The Climate Story Fund provides up to $125,000 per project to support:
- The completion of production for nonfiction media projects.
- Impact pilot initiatives for completed nonfiction and fiction projects.
This initiative is based on the belief that investing in culture is a crucial strategy for addressing the climate crisis. The fund seeks stories that challenge traditional narratives and ignite action, reaching audiences through diverse perspectives and genres.
What Types of Stories Are Encouraged?
The Climate Story Fund is looking for stories that:
- Are created by and about diverse communities that are often excluded from climate discussions.
- Engage different audiences by appealing to romantics, comedians, thrill seekers, and beyond.
- Forge deep connections with historically marginalized groups in the climate movement.
- Challenge existing norms and introduce new beliefs that support a just and sustainable future.
- Inspire action and mobilize communities to drive systemic change.
