We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer to help secure the resources that power our work. This role is ideal for a skilled communicator with a passion for human rights and a proven track record of crafting compelling grant proposals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and identify a wide range of funding opportunities from foundations, governments, multilaterals, and other relevant sources.
- Develop high-quality, persuasive grant proposals and funding applications that align with Obodo’s mission and programme goals.
- Ensure timely preparation, submission, and follow-up of all grant applications.
- Collaborate with programme leads and leadership to develop clear, evidence-based proposals and budgets.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including grant calendars, compliance requirements, and reporting deadlines.
- Support the wider team with proposal ideation, storytelling, and concept note development.
- Build and nurture relationships with funders, networks, and stakeholders interested in LGBTQ+ and feminist advocacy.
- Contribute to other organisational writing needs, including donor updates, reports, and communication materials.
- Work toward securing sustainable funding to advance Obodo’s initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in any field preferably Social Sciences, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Public Health or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in grant writing, with a demonstrated portfolio of successful proposals (government and/or foundation).
- Experience working with research teams and incorporating evidence into proposals.
- Strong knowledge of fundraising information sources and funding landscapes for human rights and advocacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with fundraising tools or CRM systems is a plus.
- Ability to conduct thorough research, synthesise information, and tailor proposals to funder priorities.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
