Deadline: 02 March 2026
The International Trans Fund (ITF) is the only trans-led global funder dedicated to advancing safety, dignity, and justice for trans people worldwide. We envision thriving, interconnected trans movements that are resourced, resilient, and rooted in transfeminist principles, advancing safety, freedom, and liberation worldwide. Our mission is to mobilize sustainable resources for trans-led organizations and movements worldwide by strengthening collective action and bridging critical funding gaps.
Our grantmaking is led by a global panel of trans activists, grounded in the belief that trans people best understand the needs and priorities of our movements. Since 2017, ITF has invested over USD $10 million in 271 trans-led grassroots organizations across 103 countries. Our work is rooted in transfeminist principles and a deep commitment to human rights, collective care, and movement-building.
About the Role
ITF is seeking a part-time Economic Empowerment Officer to advance its strategic vision within the “Resourcing Trans Movements for Autonomy” and “Capacity and Capability Building” focus areas. The role focuses on participatory learning and collaboration, documentation, data analysis, and storytelling related to trans-led and trans-centered economic alternatives, as part of the project Empowered Trans-Led Economies: Building Alternatives. Through this work, the project aims to strengthen the sustainability of trans-led organizations, document what works, and leverage additional funding to scale proven models.
This project is funded by a key ITF partner and represents a critical opportunity to advance ITF’s strategic outcome of resource diversification, particularly through exploring alternative financial instruments and mechanisms for moving capital (e.g., impact investment and other forms of alternative financing). ITF anticipates that the Economic Empowerment Officer will significantly strengthen the organization’s capacity to resource trans-led movements by applying the learning generated through this project and its focus areas.
This role will primarily support the project’s grantmaking, capacity-building and MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning) work, including the relationship-building with grantee partners and funders, in close collaboration with ITF staff to co-create learning processes and stories of change, and to ensure that knowledge generated through ITF’s work meaningfully supports trans-led movements.
This is a critical, movement-facing position that will pilot ITF’s strategy for economic empowerment, taking into consideration its specific potential in resource generation and diversification for trans communities, within and beyond the project Empowered Trans-Led Economies Building Alternatives.
The position is part-time over approximately 23 months, with workload fluctuating in line with program timelines and key learning moments. There is a possibility that this role will continue, funding dependent.
