Minority Watch (Registered as MINORITY ADVOCATES FOR EDUCATION AND EQUITABLE ACCESS TO RIGHTS INITIATIVE with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria is a non-profit organization based in Lagos State, Nigeria, established in 2022, dedicated to protecting the rights and dignity of LGBTQI persons, people living with HIV, women, and girls in Nigeria.
We are a non-profit organisation of lawyers and paralegals committed to the protection and enforcement of the rights and dignity of LGBTQI persons, people living with HIV, women, and girls in Nigeria. We offer legal representation to marginalized people facing various challenges, such as discrimination, violence, wrongful arrests, and human rights violations based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Minority Watch also uses strategic litigation and advocacy to bring about legal and policy reforms, working with government institutions, lawmakers, and human rights organizations to repeal discriminatory laws, implement inclusive policies, and develop legal frameworks that protect and empower LGBTQI persons, people living with HIV, women, and girls in Nigeria.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead content creation and management across social media, website, newsletters, and digital platforms.
- Develop and implement media plans, content calendars, and advocacy campaigns.
- Shape Minority Watch’s public messaging and storytelling strategy.
- Coordinate media engagements, press releases, and public communications.
- Liaise with Public Relations firms and strategic media partners.
- Support campaign events and other official duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicant must reside in Lagos State
- The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong competence in communications, advocacy, and digital storytelling,
- Experience managing social media platforms,
- Ability to design and execute media and campaign strategies,
- Proven experience developing and implementing communications/advocacy strategies,
- Experience working with media (press releases, interviews, features, campaigns)
- Experience coordinating campaigns, events, and public programmes
- Working knowledge of basic graphics design and content tools (Canva, Adobe, video editing tools, etc.)
- A clear commitment to human rights, inclusion, and the rule of
