Deadline: August 15 2017.
Reporters, editors, and bloggers based in Sub-Saharan Africa and proficient in English can apply for this free, all-expenses-paid training. The Religion News Foundation (RNF) is organizing an intensive reporting workshop on religion and LGBTQI+ issues Nov. 10 to 15 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Participants must be open-minded to the issues at hand and affiliated with news operations in Sub-Saharan Africa where they can contribute positively to the accurate and ethical reporting of how religion intersects with sexual and gender minorities. The selected journalists will be required to produce at least one story for publication before the end of 2017.
The organisers will cover flights, food and lodging.
Interested applicants should email their CV and two work samples (links preferred) to RNF’s Cape Town-based director of global strategy Brian Pellot at firstname.lastname@example.org. Applicants should also include a brief paragraph explaining why they wish to join the workshop and a sentence outlining the reach of the primary news outlet(s) for which they report.
