Deadline: 13th August 2017.
The MSMGF Youth Reference Group was first formed by a small and dedicated group of YMSM advocates at the 2010 MSMGF Pre-Conference on MSM and HIV, preceding the International AIDS Conference in Vienna. With support from the MSMGF Secretariat, the MSMGF YRG works to advocate for and empower young gay men and other young men who have sex with men within the global HIV response through skills building, cross networking and meaningful participation in the decision-making processes.
The YRG is currently seeking expressions of interest from activists who focus on issues concerning HIV among YMSM. Applicants should have experience and interest in working on HIV policy and/or programs, Human Rights, and strong linkages with existing networks focused on youth and/or people living with HIV.
Candidates living with HIV are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be between the ages of 16 and 29, and must be able to communicate effectively in English, the working language of the MSMGF YRG.
Responsibilities of MSMGF YRG members include participation in routine conference calls, engaging in regular strategic planning discussions regarding YMSM advocacy and programming, including availability to travel for face-to-face meetings when needed and providing guidance and leadership on YMSM issues within the greater MSMGF.
YRG members are also part of the MSMGF’s steering committee. Within this capacity, they are responsible for providing advice on strategic directions, planning and supporting fund mobilization efforts.
Eligible Region: Asia-Pacific, Caribbean, West and Central Africa, East and Southern Africa.
