Call for Abstract Submissions: Out & Proud? LGBTI asylum in Europe

About the conference
During the conference Out & Proud? LGBTI asylum in Europe participants will explore both the legal and the social aspects of LGBTI asylum issues. The aim of the conference is to bring together lawyers, NGOs, researchers, activists, policy makers and LGBTI refugees. At the Out & Proud? conference, we will take stock of where we are, share our knowledge and experiences, and discuss how to further our goals.

Submit an abstract
CoC has reserved various panels for researchers who want to present papers. They welcome your submission of an abstract on any topic that is relevant to LGBTI asylum. After the conference a selection of the papers will be published. Potential submissions include, but are not limited to:

Credibility assessment
Discrimination or persecution
Safe countries of origin
Homonationalism & asylum
Country of origin information
Late disclosure

Organise a workshop
On Friday 6 October several workshops have been reserved for sharing good practices. CoC also welcomes you to organise a workshop on any topic that is relevant to LGBTI asylum. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

Social support initiatives
Discrimination in the country of refuge
Reception conditions
Setting up a self-organisation
Health (including sexual / mental health)
Trans-specific challenges

Submission Process:
If you are interested in presenting a paper during the conference, please send an abstract of max. 300 words to Sabine Jansen and Jessica van Zadelhoff Submit your abstract as PDF-file and include the title of your paper and a biography of max. 100 words. The deadline for submission of the final paper is 15 September 2017.

Refugees and self-organisations are particularly encouraged to apply. If you wish to organise a workshop, send a proposal to before the deadline.
